Get Your Treasure Hunt On: First Ever #EWSALVAGE Scavenger Hunt Announced!

We are SO excited to announce the latest addition to the #YEW event calendar this year: our FIRST ever historic preservation scavenger hunt!!!

We’ve teamed up with the Tacoma Historic Preservation Department, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma, and Stadium High School students have donated their talents by doing a class project in which they learned about and photographed (sneak peek of those shots below!) historically intriguing and architecturally significant buildings and structures throughout Tacoma in a fun and engaging look at their surroundings, identifying how these structures make a difference in our community.

This adventure is FREE and open to all who like a good challenge, have an eagle’s eye for spotting treasure, and a passion for historic adventures!

Enroll online with the City Of Tacoma Historic Preservation Department or at either photo display location (mentioned above) starting on Friday, April 10 thru Friday, May 1st – come join the fun! There’s no time to waste – sign-up now:

How’s this thing gonna work? Get the details:
Use your clue sheet (included with enrollment) for hints to different locations throughout the Tacoma-area (most locations on checklist are within a 15-mile driving radius. Take beautiful drive or stroll through different neighborhoods and enjoy the rich history and uniqueness each one has to offer). Check off sites visited and sketch a little picture or take a photo of the sights you’ve seen!

Stumped or want to see more clues? Visit either Earthwise Architectural Salvage OR Tacoma Children’s Museum to view professional grade pictures taken by Stadium High School Photography Class Students & for additional clues.

Then, join us on May 2, at Earthwise Architectural Salvage in Tacoma for snacks, beverages and an a swag bag for all those who participate! We will compare sketches, photos, and stories from the hunt. We’ll compare results & share experiences of the history we’ve uncovered!
