This beautiful stove made by the S.M.HOWES Company out of Boston recently made its way into our shop.
It is constructed out of cast iron and brass.
This a terrific example of American industrial age craftsmanship.
The quality of the casting is nothing short of amazing.
There are hardly any “gate marks” across this whole stove, which are the jagged edges you will find where the two parts of the mold meet.
This is a sign of very high quality craftsmanship.
This stove is also in very good condition.
Someone took the time to totally refurbish it with a wire wheel and many hours of elbow grease which is something we considered while pricing it.
There is still some rust on the inside, but the exterior is in amazing shape.
The only defects with this stove are a few aftermarket screws that don’t quite match the originals, and the sheet metal ashtray has rusted out.
You could likely get this re-made through a sheet metal fabrication shop.
It does not come with a chimney, but otherwise it is ready to be installed.
