How-To Upcycle Your Dryer Drum

A common question the EWcrew (especially the weekenders) gets asked is, “What are we working on?” Our customers have us pegged as project do-ers and to be honest, it’s hard to work at Earthwise and not be inspired to have a few projects going on! If you stop by either store on the weekend, that’s when you see most of these projects happening.

Recently, the Seattle store came into possession of a metal washer drum. While everybody wanted to scrap it, store manager Lacy had a better idea.  Seattle just expanded the pedestal sink and bathroom display room to include mirrors and more sinks and the room was lacking a little pizzazz. So she pitched the idea to the crew of using the metal washer drum as a lamp shade and building a light fixture for inside it.

While Matt dismantled the non-working washer for the drum, Diana wired up a 4-light fixture (learn how to do your own simple rewiring in May – Seattle & Tacoma). From there the assembly was quick and easy and added just the right touch to the space!

What can you imagine repurposing a dryer drum for? Tell us what you think about the new space when you stop by on your next visit OR anytime via emailFacebookInstagramPinterest & Twitter!
