Sonie Ames was a highly influential artist and educator legendary for her romantic, soft-focus floral paintings, particularly her signature pastel roses, pansies, and peonies. Active predominantly from the 1960s through the 1980s, her work gained massive popularity both as finished framed wall art and as specialized "china painting studies" used by porcelain decorators. Today, her highly recognizable, elegant style remains a staple of cottagecore, shabby chic, and traditional French country interior decor.
