This Port Orford Cedar is native to the Pacific Northwest. Despite being a softwood, it is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and possesses a superb strength-to-weight ratio.
It is naturally famous for its distinct, sweet ginger-like scent and its remarkable resistance to decay, water damage, rot, and insect attacks. Because it holds up incredibly well against the elements and remains smooth without splintering, it is widely used for high-end outdoor decking, boat building, millwork, and even musical instruments like guitar soundboards.
